A couple from Essex scores £52,500 in timeshare compensation with help from M1 Legal

Aug 22, 2022 | Anfi Group, Blog, CLC World, Diamond Resorts, Timeshare Resorts

A very happy British couple has been awarded a huge amount of over £52,500 with the help of M1 Legal. It’s just one of many wins for British timeshare victims this month.

July victories

The last month has seen a huge number of positive judgements for timeshare victims against timeshare companies in the courts.

M1 Legal, a firm of lawyers in Malaga specialising in timeshare law, was delighted to win every one of the 31 cases that were heard during the month of July 2022.

£440,000 in wins

The claimants saw over £440,000 awarded in compensation to members who were illegally sold timeshares in Spain over the last few decades.

Life-changing money

The biggest win went to a couple from Witham in Essex. Now they no longer have to pay maintenance fees, and they have been awarded a sum of £52,236.  Another happy couple from Leicester, were awarded an impressive £43,609.

Illegal contracts

The timeshare resorts have been ordered to pay out because they have been ignoring consumer laws in Spain and for the last two decades by issuing illegal contracts.

Following the law meant missing out on profits, so they chose to ignore it. As a result, most of the people who purchased timeshare in Spain in recent years actually have illegal contracts.

And this means they may well be entitled to compensation.

Fighting back

The resorts misjudged their customers, assuming they would not have the patience or legal knowledge to challenge their illegal behaviour.

But thanks to M1 Legal, which started fighting back in 2016, the timeshare companies are losing out.

M1 Legal currently has a success rate of 98.6% in compensation cases for timeshare clients.

Prolific offenders

“This month was fairly typical in that the biggest M1 successes were against CLC World, Diamond Resorts Europe, and Anfi,” says head of M1 Legal Fernando Sansegundo. “These three resorts, while by no means the only culprits, have been prolific in the amount of illegal business they have written since 1999.

“Just this month, since the beginning of July we have won over £287,000 in compensation awards against CLC World. We have also won more than £69,200 against Anfi, and £44,644 against Diamond Resorts Europe. DRE have not even been trading in Europe for several years. They were bought out by Hilton a couple of years ago, and they are still paying the price for their previous contempt for both their customers and the law.

The Essex couple mentioned in this piece “have been rewarded for their courage in challenging their resort’s behaviour. M1 Legal have not only achieved their £52,236 compensation win but will almost certainly secure the couple simple interest and legal fees too.”

Out of patience

The Spanish courts are currently clamping down on the timeshare companies.

“The courts have run out of patience,” says Sansegundo. “Europe’s biggest resorts are being ordered to pay compensation on an unprecedented scale. The financial drain is forcing most of them to close down.

Can you claim?

Anyone who has bought a timeshare after 1999, may find they are owed compensation. However, M1 Legal cannot be contacted directly.

Because of the volume of enquiries, M1 works together with Europe’s leading timeshare claims firm, European Consumer Claims (ECC),” Fernando explains. “ECC filter the strongest cases so that we maintain our almost 100% success rate. If you want to understand your options or have questions about the process, get in touch with ECC for a free, no-obligation consultation.”
